Co-Enzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like substance that is found in virtually every cell in the human body. It is an essential factor in the production of cellular energy in the mitochondria, and is a powerful fat-soluble network antioxidant. Extensive research demonstrates that Co-Q10 supports healthy cardiovascular function.Absorption of Co-Q10 has always been a challenge. In fact, well over 60% of orally consumed Co-Q10 is excreted and absorption is not only variable but also dependent on food intake, particularly the fats present in the food. Absorption is lower when Co-Q10 is consumed on an empty stomach and higher when taken with food comprised of high fat content. These are concentric spheres of microscopic membranes, each similar to a simplified cell membrane. Instead, liposomes pass almost directly from the gut, through the intestinal wall, and into the blood, bringing their Co-Q10 with them.
