Nattokinase is a serine proteinase produced during the fermentation of the traditional Japanese food condiment natto by the probiotic bacillus subtilis. Natto is fermented soya beans -with a cheese-like quality - and has been used in Japanese healthcare for over a thousand years for its valuable properties and its popular taste. While other soya foods contain enzymes, only the natto preparation contains the specific nattokinase enzyme which research indicates may help support the circulatory system by helping to maintain blood viscosity.

Nattokinase may therefore be of particular interest to those leading sedentary lifestyles and frequent long-haul air travellers. However, nattokinase should be avoided by those with bleeding disorders and those taking blood-thinning medications. Each capsule contains 38mg of very pure nattokinase, delivering a full 760 units of activity. Just as important, the new fermentation medium used to produce nattokinase contains no soya, making this formulation completely soya free.
