N-Acetyl-Cysteine (N-A-C) is easily taken up by the cells. It is a precursor in the body to the important antioxidant glutathione (GSH), which is produced intracellularly - particularly in the liver. Cells cannot absorb preformed GSH, making glutathione supplements of minimal effectiveness.
