AOR Active Green tea 700mg 90 vegi-caps
This formulation is a standardised extract, high in epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), of green tea - the second most consumed beverage in the world today. Green tea is in fact derived from the same plant as black tea. The difference in taste and in health benefits comes from the way the tea leaves are processed. To make black tea, the leaves are fermented, which oxidize many of the antioxidants naturally present in the leaves. Green tea is produced by lightly steaming the fresh-cut leaf. There has been much scientific research into green tea, much of which has centred on its high epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) content. This potent antioxidant in particular has been shown to be responsible for many of the beneficial properties attributed to green tea. Most of this research, however, is based on the consumption of ten cups of sencha-style Japanese green tea a day - a huge volume of liquid to consume on a daily basis. Each capsule of the AOR formulation contains around 150mg of EGCG - equivalent to three cups - offering consumers a convenient way to supplement their consumption to help ensure a relevant daily intake. AOR have chosen to include naturally occurring caffeine in this formulation as there is some evidence to show that it may act synergystically with the polyphenols to help maximise the health benefits of green tea.
