SelenoPrecise is a high selenium yeast, containing 200 micrograms of selenium in the organic form. It is the original selenium formulation, the same formulation that was used in the Clark study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association: 276:1957-1963 (1996). The exact biochemical mechanism that may give SelenoPrecise its anti-carcinogenic properties is not yet fully understood. However, selenium carries out its main function as part of the enzyme glutathione peroxidase. Glutathione peroxidase is an antioxidant which protects intracellular structures against oxidative damage by free radicals.
SelenoPrecise is a selenium preparation, so essentially it can be taken for a variety of illnesses associated with selenium deficiency. However, SelenoPrecise is very important as a therapeutic intervention agent for the prevention of various forms of cancer. The Clark Study referred to previously, showed the following results in 1,312 patients:
37% fewer cases of prostate cancer 42% fewer cases of colorectal cancer 54% fewer cases of lung cancer 50% fewer cancer mortality cases overall There is no other form of selenium that can claim to give the same results as published in the 1996 Clark Study.
There are no known contra-indications or interactions with other forms of medicament.
