Pycnogenol is derived from maritime pine bark extract, which contains over 40 bio-flavonoids. Plant substances with potent antioxidant potential, flavonoids protect the cells from damage by unstable oxygen molecules called free radicals.
Pycnogenol is involved in the free radical scavenging, ‘mopping up’ of harmful free radicals in the body. Free radicals being unstable molecules caused by by-products of the body’s own metabolism or environmental pollution.

Pycnogenol has been used to treat a variety of disorders. Its primary use is in enhancing the health of blood vessels. Pycnogenol has also been shown to be beneficial in helping reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
